I have a 2001 v10 f250 crew lariat, and I need to buy a new alternator for it. I use a 9500# winch in the Fall times and I was thinking of getting a more "extra-duty" alternator to handle for charging power. Is there any better model than the other? Or is an alternator just an alternator? Thanks for your help!
You might want to consider a deep cycle battery to run your winch and any other accessories. If you have a place to put it, you can run a battery isolator and run your winch without even having the engine running.
Alternators are rated by their Amperage output.....60, 100, etc. The higher the number the greater the output of the Alternator, and the greater the cost. Of course the physical configurations vary, so you have to have the style that fits your vehicle, and the pully must match the rest of your system, or you can change it to one that does match.
