Rebuild How-To Question

I need to fix the outer u-joints and ball joints on my front end, so I think it would be smart to just rebuild the whole dam thing. Its a D50, and I don't have the funds to swap to the D60. So I am looking for write-ups, links, etc. to help me get this done as quickly and cheaply as possible.

Pull your front wheels, take off brakes and hang em up somewhere, and get some beer. Take your locking hub assembly out slowly and store it methodically. Pictures helped me here a ton. Pull the rotor. Then the spindle. Get extra beer for the spindle. If you've never pulled it then you're in for a treat. After that the D 50 shafts should pull right out. The passenger one has a rubber boot you can take the clamp off of and that shaft pulls right out too. You may as well do your bearings and races while it's apart. Soon I'll put up some pics of the hub disassembly. I don't know the rest. Good luck.

Any

Where you want a space hold down the Alt key and key in 032.
I'm doing it now. Fortunately keyboards are cheap.

I'm using my father-in-law's computer now. I had to send in my laptop, hopefully get it back before school starts. Best Buy is on my **** list now too. That trick seems to be working.

So does anyone have info on the question at hand?

Safety First, always make sure vehicle is properly supported and wheels chocked. It is easier to change the ball joints while the front end is in the truck, but I did it while it was out and it wasn't too bad. You should start by getting a "C" frame press kit. You can get them at harbor freight or parts stores may rent them. I'd take the ball joints off the front end first and then take the front end out of the truck. I degreased the front end and repainted everything with POR15 before I put it back together. Just take everything apart carefully and take your time, it really isn't too bad. If you're going to do axle pivot bushings, I just posted a mini "how-to" on Travis' pivot bushing thread. If you really want to get into it, you can do leaf spring bushings to and even paint the chassis while you're down there. Hope this helps and be safe.
