my truck is making a ticking noise when i am on the throttle, it only happens when i am towing up a hill or hammer on the throttle to do the double or triple pass on the highway....
it happens rarely, and when it does it continues to make the noise until i let off the pedal completely or during a shift after about 5 minutes of making the noise....
it only started making the noise after i did the following mods...
- egr delete
- +hp injectors
- boost fooler
- itp regulated return
- head studs
- coolant filter
i did all the mods at once so it is hard for me to figure out what it is... i cant remember the truck doing it b4 the mods...
the noise sounds like it is coming from the above the tranny tunnel area, right at the fire wall on the drivers side.... i have no loss in boost that i have seen on my after market gauges... but there is a small loss in power...
Check for an exhaust leak at your EGR cooler delete or around the turbo inlet and outlet flanges. It sounds like a small leak and possibly hard to find, but maybe you can have a friend power brake and see if you can get it to happen, then pinpoint it better while hearing it with the hood up and inside the engine compartment.
Don't power brake it for more than 20 or 30 seconds at a time...I've seen tranny front seals start pouring from getting too hot!
I am experiencing a similar noise. It has gotten much worse over the last couple days. It is the actual throttle controller mounted on the firewall near the pedal. It has gotten very loud and I can't believe it has not failed yet. At amost all throttle settings except idle. The dealer will have me a new one Mon.
