I have found a tractor I want to buy in Ohio. The seller wants to handle the transaction through ebay. I found the tractor on craigslist. She will handle shipping as part of purchase price. Does this sound right?
I know it is off topic, but I don't know where else I can get as good of advise on the matter.
Thanks
Listed on Craigslist, but wants to run it through Ebay?I can't figure that one out,but off hand it sounds fishy. There are quite a few members in Ohio, and one,Walston, is into tractors.Maybe he or one of the other guys can check it out for you?
I can't think of a single reason that a craigslist seller would want to handle a transaction through an outside service that will charge them a healthy commission. Tractors are easy to find. Look for another. Something here isn't right.

I guess I could see someone wanting to be paid through Paypal, which is owned by Ebay I think.could this be what they meant? That does offer some kind of buyer/seller protection.
Thanks for the replies. She is calling it ,(ebays buyer protection program) "to protect her and me".
The tractor is part of a divorce settlement, supposedly.
tell her you will send a rep to look it over where it is..
see how long before you get, "well its not HERE, its..."
ask for the VIN.. is got one.. check it out.. if you get one..
I must get that once a week for stuff I find on CL..
only time it DID pan out, was local, and I DID look at it, buy it,
all legit paperwork.. cops came last week and took it (flatbed trailer).. stolen in Ft Worth.. all the paper looked good, everything matched.. just he wasn't the actual owner..
I found a Harley like that on the Knoxville craigslist about a month ago. When I emailed the guy, he said he was in Houston to see about a new job. He emailed me a couple of days later with the ebay deal and said that he had just moved to Houston and would ship the bike back to Knoxville. It set off all kinds of red flags, so I did a search of his email address. Found the same ad on CL in Houston (where he said he moved to LA. It was also on the New Orleans CL and about six other one's around the country.
