emergency light help!!

well i got these lights off my buddys chevy. theres no diagram to them or anything. its kinda simple, 2 boxes, 4 lights, each box has 3 wires going into it. a red, black, and white. i know the red and black are hot/ground. nut what could the white be? there is no there controller box. there only 3xA,3xB strobes. im at a loss lol.

The red and black wires are the "hot feed" (from the source to the light) and "hot return" (from the light to another light or back to source),the white wire is the neutral.
