i'm an inch away from buying an '03 ranger with 4wd. i think i read that on dry pavement 4wd has to be disengaged, is this true. sorry, don't know much about 4wd, yeah i have a jeep but it's 2wd.
This is correct...the Ranger has a true 4-wheel drive system and therefore you need to run 2-High on dry pavement.
But my question is...WHY would anyone WANT to use 4-High on dry pavement?? I've heard of people using low range on the transfer case to creep through traffic jams...but that was on manual locking hub trucks with the front hubs disengaged. On these automatic 4-wheel-drive systems...this is impossible, and there is no need for extra traction on dry pavement anyway.
