Chirp on a bump

96 4.0 4x4 ranger XLT

It seems when I hit a bump or pot hole I get a loud sharp chirp coming from the front end somewhere. I am thinking it's coming from the torsion bar bushing on the right side. It's not a constant thing, only when the front end takes a more substantial bump.
To replace the bushings should the weight be taken off the wheels?

Any other thoughts about this would be helpful
Thanks

Yes, make sure you jack the front end completely off the ground

cam sensor drive

Make sure it's not the above, mine sounded like a belt squealing, if it locks up, there goes the engine,,,,bad things.

A noise as you describe it brings to mind metal to metal contact. Look for worn or broken bushings on the sway bar ends and all the suspension ball joints, donuts, or other places where the suspension or the steering pivots .
