I have a 2008 F250 xlt. I decided to check my air filter and accidently damaged it trying to get it back in. So i went to napa and purchased a new one, almost 100 bucks!!! Anyways, i get it back in, and everything seems fine. Nope, a day or two later, the check engine light comes on. I take it to the dealer, they tell me to unplug my batterys and erase the sensor code which i did. That seemed to solve the problem. However, a few weeks later, the check engine just pops on again. Any ideas on this? I am fairly sure i have the filter back in the right way, but i have to admit i found it very difficult to get it back in there. So now my check engine light is on again, although the truck seems to be operating fine. kg
You need to find out what the code is, just like you tried previously, before the dealer blew you off and made you reset all your radio settings!
If the light came on, it was for a reason. If it was air filter related, then you would have known if they would have checked the code description. If it was not, clearing the code did nothing but by time before it came on again. I don't get how a dealer can expect clearing an "unknown" code would fix the problem. Clearing the code never fixes the problem.
thanks for replies. Turns out it had nothing to do with the air filter. There was some computer update/reflash or something that it needed. I didnt even know it was supposed to be done. Anyways, that seems to have fixed the problem! kg
