Not sure where you get your info from that Amsoil is not API. Amsoil is incredible oil. I have used it for a few years now and use it in everything.As a preffered customer I can buy it straight from Amsoil for just about the same price as Mobil 1 at my local autoparts store. The #1 reasoni like it is it is flowable down to -38. Here in MN i Appreciate that in the winter. The bottom line on all oils is it needs to be clean. Dirty Amsoil is no better than dirty conventional oils. I would not trust even amsoil after 7500 miles without a oil anaylisis done. To each is own on which oil you have faith in.

AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils. Mixing AMSOIL motor oils with other oils, however, will shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.
Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motor oils.
SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil is recommended for extended drain intervals in unmodified(1), mechanically sound(2) gasoline fueled vehicles as follows:
• Normal Service(3) – Up to 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.
• Severe Service(4) – Up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.
• Replace AMSOIL Ea oil filter at the time of oil change up to 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first (other brands at standard OEM* intervals).
• In all non-gasoline fueled vehicle applications, extend the oil change interval according to oil analysis or follow the OEM* drain interval.

Amsoil has also been proven to get thicker over time. Not good for a Ford Modular engine.
Here is my 88 5.0 Mustang engine after 165K very hard miles. Never ran anything but Dino oil and a Motorcraft filter. Still holds 40psi oil pressure hot!!! Got a built engine cheap so I put it in. Many many miles left on this one!! No sludge at all!!!
