OK, so I got the window sticker on another truck I am looking at. The MSRP is $59,025 and on the sticker the "base" vehicle price is $41,940. This is a fully loaded Lariat and the Lariat package (nav, etc) is listed at the bottom of the sticker as an additional $4000.
Now, one of the XLT trucks I was looking at earlier (and had put money on, being refunded) the MSRP is $51,520 and the "base" vehicle price is $36,965.
In both cases they are crew cab PSD's, 4x4, with front bucket seats (the Lariat is FX4). Why would the "base" vehicle price change from $36,965 to $41,940 when all the options are listed below as added to those prices? (PSD, XLT or Lariat package, axle codes, tires, transmission, radio options, you name it the code and option price is added right there).
I guess I don't get the $5,000 difference in "base" price? If it is starting with the bare bones truck and everything else is added, why would the "base" price change $5,000?
I've been on cars.com for the past couple days now. Thats how I am generating my leads. I am working my way through the list of F250's and F350's that fit my criteria and inquiring about them and the "best price". Then if they don't give me a good price I let them know what I am up to and if they are willing to discount the truck heavily to get it to move then let me know.
I actually had the store manager of one place call me back several hours after I talked to the internet sales specialist too I will call back on Monday, I wasn't availible to yak on the phone when he called. I got his message.
The base price still should be the "base" price. Why aren't all the additions and options priced out on the sheet? It lists all the "standard" features on the top/left of the page, but I don't think that completely explains the $5,000 difference.
are different wheelbase, fuel tanks size, sync, sirius, power & heated seats, power mirrors, security key setup, 60/40 rear seat, captains chairs, all in the 6k base diff..
you can open both window stickers in the browser and click between them for the diffs..
and welcome to funny auto math.. "YOU don't NEED to know" (they think)
