I had an '02 F-150. I sold it to my FIL and drive a commuter car to work and an E-250 van to haul. I hate the van so, I decided to get another pickup.
I got a '78 F-350 flatbed. It's beat to crap. I've just about bought replacements of everything but the lugnuts. Wait, I actually bought all new lugnuts too.
I'm not sure if it'll be a donor or just get pushed aside and I'll get a better candidate frame and all. In any case, I'm enamored with the dentsides. So, I'm searching high and low for them.
Cool! Projects can be a lot off fun and also overwhelming at the same time. Let us know of any specfic parts you are looking for because you neve know around here who might have what laying around or know where there is something is. Throw some pics of it up if you want we always like pics around here! Does the truck run and drive?
It sortof runs and sortof drives. It has a bunch of cracked off lug bolts. I have a replacement set to do all four wheels. Actually, six, as it's a dually.
The engine runs rough. I think that I need to purge the fuel and probably even rebuild the carb. But, I have a 460 to put in. Currently, it's a 351-m.
While attempting to keep it going one day, start after start, I fried the solenoid. I have one coming from LMC.
I'm torn between getting another truck with better condition frame and just gutting this one and attacking it with a needle scaler and sandblaster to see what's left. I have found a few good frames but they come without title. So, I'm chasing down that path too. Lots to learn and do.
Part of me wants to dive right in and get it done quickly, as I want something to competently haul a trailer. The other part wants to slow down and do it right. So, I imagine it'll be between a 6 month and 5 year project.
