My work took me 2.5 hours from home. The gps said exactly that, 2.5 hours at 114 miles. Well it got the time correct but it was 160 miles. I checked it both ways,, same result.
Question is,,my programer sets the tire height so my speedometer is correct but i'm wondering if the odometer is correct. but even still if the bigger tires was messing with it,, wouldnt it be reading less miles instead of more.
But on the other hand,, the signs, etc, kinda adds to the 160 miles. Just wondering,, no biggie. just thought some of you guys had an answer,, i suppose the gps could be off but it got the time correct. thanks..
I think in a lot of cases the GPS is wrong. I don't know if your GPS tells you how fast you are going (mine does), but you can compare that to your speedometer to see if they are the same. I think if you put tires on your truck that are much larger then what it came with, I would think it could throw off the odometer, and speedometer. Next time you go out on the highway, use the mile markers on the side of the road to compare with your odometer as you are driving. That would help answer all of you questions. Good luck.
Depending on the type of road 2.5 hours to go 114 miles could be slow. If its highway driving you should make it farther than 114 miles in your 2.5 hours. If its a river road then that may be correct.
2.5 hours to go 114 miles is an average speed of 45 mph. Sound about right?
thanks guys,, good idea with checking the mile markers:,,, and it was all interstate,, average speed probably 73 mph. and the gps and the speedometer was about the same,, maybe only 1 mph difference. Like i said, no biggie, just wondering,, thanks.
