I have a 05 F250 xlt 4x4 with 118500 miles all stock. Has been serviced regularly since i had it (2007) lately the fuel mileage has been less than when i bought it and it is very hard starting when cold. After it starts the engine runs a little rough and you have to really step on it to get it to rev clean. Once it warms up it is good. I have been told glowplugs but I live in Florida and it doesnt get very cold here. I was also told might have a bad injector. I am fairly good with mechanical skills and any work would be done by me because it is out of warranty. Any advice or web sites I can read up to help diagnose this will be appreciated as well as any hands on experience would love to hear it. Thanks in advance.
not a glowplug concern in the middle of summer in FL. I can promise you that. use the search function and look for ficm testing. start there.
to diag an injector you will need some form of scan tool.
I have an OBDII scanner if that helps? Which one would I need. My alternator went out a few months back and truck was running made it home with it bucking and every electrical device was off. Battery was at 8 volts and hot as hell. I think it was reflashed a long time ago the E085 one I beleive might be wrong though. I use shell rotella t 15/40 and change right around 5000 but never more than the recommended 7500.
