I AM GOING TO GET A NEW TRANNY FROM BTS SOON. MY QUESTION IS; WHO ALL HAS HAD THIS DONE AT ROCKYS AND WHAT THE THINK OK THE SERVICE AND INSTALL. I HAD TALK TO BTS AWHILE BACK AND THEY SAID ROCKYS COULD INSTALL THIS IN THE DENVER AREA. TELL ME PROS AND CONS.
I've never had any work done at Rocky's personally but I've only ever heard good things about their shop and the quality of their work. One day I'll need a BTS and when that day comes, I'll probably go through Rocky's.
The trans install can be handled by most anyone, even a Ford dealership. Should be little to no problem. If you trans is shot, you really should replace the cooler.

But if the trans died, I would replace the cooler because I would be afraid of the debris that is sent to the cooler from the dead or dying trans.
(How do you do that 'quote' thingy)
I would agree about the debris in the cooler.... I bought a BTS in March and by mid July torque convertor was locked up in third gear and I burned up the transmission while I was driving it back to Brians at Lead Hill. I had a garage put it in the first go around and Brian found a few things that he was not happy about in the origanal install. One of those was he did not think that the 'garage' even tried to clean out the orginal 7.3 cooler. Brian installed the 6.0 cooler before I even asked him to. He said that He would not let my truck leave his shop with my old cooler, whether I paid for the new one or not.... I had meant to talk to him about putting the 6.0 on, when I dropped the truck off. 'We' (Brian) was not able to tell why the torque convertor locked because by the time I got it back ot him the whole transmission was shot and the center shaft was broken in half. He was not as upset as I was that I destroyed 'his' transmission. He said that he really felt better that I had brought it back to him as the install was not up to his standards. He said that he felt that the cooler was not cleaned out and that cross member bolts were missing and that the flywheel bolts were not torqued down.
The installer does have an enfluence on the product.
(By the way, total cost for the trans overhaul .... O
and 6.0 install.... 450.00)
