There are 3 egt sensors and 1 exhaust pressure sensor in the exhaust system. So a total of 4 sensors.
With the edge race programmer you re-install all 4 sensors in the exhaust when straight piping the truck. If its a shop crafted straight pipe they have to weld 4 bungs to install the sensors back in. This was my case with my truck.
Its kind of dumb if you ask me. Couldn't they have made a tune that disables all the sensors along with shutting off the regen on the truck.
There is better tuners out there, they shut the regen off and ditch all the sensors. Found this out after I bought my Edge. Dam!

Well, heres the deal, u can pick up a used edge racing evo for 3 to 5 hundred bucks. The H&S mini is triple that new and double or more used if you can even find one. So, depending on what your reasons for deleting are the edge may be an attractive alternative. Mine worked fine, it just doesn;t tune the tranny,
I run an auto repair, don't do much Diesel work, got a call today, F250 shut down, stop safely message. I took my scanner, had an exh over temp code. First sensor 2550 degrees, 2nd and 3rd 82 degrees. I unplugged the 3rd sensor, 2550. Plugged it back in, jumped the first sensor, -40. Truck still wouldn't clear codes, read the resistance on 3rd sensor, 260 ohms, put a 320 ohm resistor in the first, got a 400 degree reading, truck cleared and started, new sensor coming in the AM, $52, had to cut the wire to use a box end wrench, open end wouldn't get it. Ten minute job.
Yah... They are a pita, the big red wrench is needed in most cases when in the rust belt. Out of all the reasons a 6.4 won't start, the egt sensor failure is probably the best case scenario.
at last count, there were 5 sensors like the sensor that failed on the 6.4.....you cant delete all these systems and all are just as likely to fail. these sensors are inexpensive to buy and just need a tourch to heat up the rust around the sending unit until it freely moves.
you probally had a #3 sensor failure on the DPF....the last one before the exhaust pipe.....this is a very common failure and to avoid being stranded certainly worth replacing on a regular basis before it fails.
