Removing transmission

Removing transmission

Anything special about these tranny's? Or better yet, any cool tricks that make it jump out of the truck by itself?

Seriously, just wondering if there is anything to look out for while removing or installing. Are they pretty much just like any other auto trans?

they are about 400lbs w/o the transfer case.
there are 6 converter nuts, they are 14mm.... a 9/16" will work as well
note were the bellhousing bolts go, there are a few different lengths
you dont have to remove the starter
unbolt the dipstick tube from the right valve cover.

about all I can think of off the top of my head.

Good to know cheezit, thanks. Hopefully its gets here this week and swapped next weekend. It I even get a new trany jack out of it!

Hopefully the only thing dropped is a beer, not a tranny or transfer case.

It takes 18 qts of fluid right? Delaership has it for $5.06, not bad I thought.

I also want to remove my trans so I can upgrade the internals with at Transgo kit.

I don't know about the torqueshift but I do know that the earlier trannnies didn't have to be dropped to put in the TransGo kit. My C6 was done just by dropping the valve body.

There is some kind of snap ring. That is the reason why It would have to be removed. But then again I don't think Our trans needs a new snap ring, I think it just needs the valve body upgrades.
