Can I remove the muffler from '01 f-250 7.3L and not harm anything? I want to get a better sound out of my truck and dont have the money for a complete system yet. The truck is an auto with 106000 miles on it. Will I gain anything other than sound out of it by doing this? Thanks for any help!!

Go for it! U can get a piece of galvanized pipe and use SS butt type clamps to replace the section. Any good Auto parts store has the stuff.
No welding. About $50 for everything. You'll improve your EGT readings and pick up some cool turbo whistle sound. Just make sure she'll pass any applicable state inspections.
SS clamps HERE for your 3.5" stock system.
Be advised that u may pick up some cabin exhaust drone.
No mistaking the sound...it pervades the cab and sounds
very annoying. The stock muffler adds length to the stock pipe sufficient to cancel out the drone. The thick wall stock pipe also helps. Good luck!
