My 2000 ford excursion has been giving me some problems lately. It has 138000 miles and has never had a problem until now. It started a few weeks ago with the ignition lock got stuck and i had to force it to turn. Then it take like five turns to get it to start i can hear a clicking under the ignition? So i dealt with that for a few weeks no big deal. I go for drive and notice my radio getting dim and the truck just dies. First thing i think is battery then alternator got a new battery and alternator, hooked up the new battery checked voltage and waaallaa the alternator is charging so i am stumped. The next day drove it around town and everything was good i thought. Wake up next am to a brand new dead battery. So i jump truck alternator is good battery is fully charged again and was good for a couple days. Im driving home from work and notice speedo bouncing around then go out completely and od light blinking as well as airbag light on. Turn it off and go its fine let it go another day and today i shut it off i can hear beeeping sound when door is open and key is in only thing was is key was in my hand and the ac was still on and i put it in off pos it went to the floor weird. My ideas i think are ignition switch or lock and tumbler any insight would be greatly appreciated. thank you
With a diesel, it's always better to replace both batteries at the same time. I saw where you said you only replaced one, so, not knowing if you had a diesel or not, I couldn't recommend replacing the second battery until I found out which engine you have.
Sounds like your ignition switch. I know on older Fords there is a rod from the lock cylinder to the switch, sometimes they bind and maybe yours bent by forcing it. Sometimes the contacts in the switch melt, might be why it's in acc with the key out and draining the batteries. Easy enough to check anyway.
so i changed out the ignition switch and still im getting a click from a relay down at bottom on inside fuse box it is the relay that controls power windows and gem. I dont get it this gem thing i think is bad because im getting the click from that relay
i dunno what to do im running out of options
