Fuel Types?
On the last fill up, I forgot to add the anti-gelling additive and it died again today. It's been cold here in Michigan (teens in the day, 0-5 at night) but not THAT cold.
Is this that common of a problem? There are plenty of diesels around and I don't see all of them sputtering to a stop on the side of the road spewing smoke.
The dealership told me that anti-gelling additives are no longer added to diesel fuel and I need to add it myself. I've seen references on this board to winter blended fuels... what's the real story?
Thanks,
Scott
number 1 is used for winter fuel and number 2 is summer fuel.
I would buy my fuel at a truck stop, Thay are more likely to have fresh number 1 fuel for the winter months.
number 1 fuel shouldn't need any anti gel additive, but I always use a additive with every tank because I get better fuel mi.
I would also change my fuel filter after the gelling insentient.
over and out
gseeders
I never and repeat NEVER fuel when i see the delivery tanker at the station, i go to the next place.
You may want to replace the fuel filter element or just try draining the filter housing first and see if you get a lot of water out.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.
