well guys....
at present I have a 93 F250 nonturbo 7.3
and was thinking of getting a new 6.0 L...
but after reading some of the posts here I
may just jump ship and get a durimax..
don't get me wrong here.. I love my truck...
but if Ford can't get it's **** together here..
they will loose others like myself to the other manufacturers..
Are you sure that is the finally solution? Seems to me no one has built a perfect engine. i dont care if your dodge, chevy, ford or honda no one has a "perfect, flawless" engine. There will always be room for improvements. Personally i didnt want to be the first one with a 6.0 but dont count me out in maybe 2 or 3 yrs.
Everybody has some trouble now and again. Toyota is replacing tens of thousands of 3.0L V-6's because the oil passages weren't milled correctly and they sludge up, leading to oil starvation.
VW is recalling multi-100,000's cars for bad coils.
Most of the ills that I have seen look to be software related on the PCM, not mechanical. Give the computer nerds a few months to debug the software.
I wouldn't buy a 6.0L for awhile , especially with all the issues poping up now. My friend has a duramax and hasn't had 1 issue with his truck , and he has right around 100k on the motor....
thanks for your words of encouragement guys...
that is why this is such a great site
will wait and see what happensand then decide
in say a year.. that should give them enough
time to straighten everything out
I just recently recieved my 6.0L and love it. I know that the engine is new to the line and I expect a few flaws. But if you review the messages you are only hearing the bad stories. What we don't know is the ration of bad to good. Is it 1 in 10 or 1 in 1000 that are bad. I having been waiting on this truck and watching the stats for what Ford produces a week. For the week ending Feb. 8th Ford produce 59,000 + trucks. I do not how many of these are the 6.0L. So don't be to judgemental over a few bad apples.
I can assure you folks out there that own the new 6.0 that Ford is aware of some of idio-syncricy's and have a broad base team of engineers and techs out in the field to take care of the issues that are surronding the 6.0 at a feverish pace.

You are right...
don't know if the problems are 1 out of 10 or 1 out of 1000..... but if you're the ONE.... it's a lot like low unemployment of 1%... sounds great until it's you !!!!

but truth be told...
I'm having enough issues with my '02 7.3L Ex...
