Does any one know what the eq ratio is all about, and if 0.999% is normal. I'm looking at my freeze frame data and trying to figure out why I'm getting this p0344/p0340 code. And by some chance on what the 02 sensors should voltage should read thanks Jake
Hey does any one know, if the bank 1 is off a tooth on timing . If it would set a p0344 or would it just set a p0340. When this truck is running it doesn't make a difference on how it runs when the cmp on bank 1 is plugged in or not . Please let me know what you think thanks Jake

If you have access to a dual channel lab scope you can check the timing on bank #1's cam. Just scope the CKP and the bank #1 CMP signal. The CMP signal peak should line up with the CKP's 7th peak (after the missing tooth) while at idle if the cam is correctly timed.

If the Bank #1 cam was out of time it would NOT set a P0340 or a P0345 code. You would get a P1381. The P0340 and P0345 is what the PCM sets when it doesn't get ANY signal from the CMP (Cam Position) sensors!

That's because the PCM only uses the CMP sensor at engine start up. The CKP sensor is used to figure out where in its rotation a particulr piston is, for example, #1 is at TDC. But that isn't enough for the PCM to figure out if it should fire the injector for #1 or the coil for #1 because even though #1 is at TDC, it needs to know if the piston is on its compression stroke OR its exhaust stroke. That's what it uses the CMP sensor for.
If it doesn't have a CMP sensor to work with at start up, some versions will try and fire a few injectors at random while the engine is cranking to see if it can get lucky. If the engine starts, the PCM can figure out where #1 is and what stroke it is on and just keeps track of it from there on out. No need for the CMP sensor.
Just to recap: The P0340/P0345 says the PCM didn't get a CMP sensor signal. If Bank #1's cam is out of time it will set a P1381.
BTW, the PCM compares the CMP sensor signal and the CKP (Crank Position) sensor to determine if the cam is out of time. But if you get a P0340 code (no CMP sensor signal) there is no way you can get a P1381 (bank #1 cam out of time) because it needs BOTH a CKP a CMP signal to deterine if it is out of time!
Well that makes sense, so even it was off a tooth I wouldn't even know it . But I think if the Timing was off it wouldn't run as well as it does right??. I'M AM at a loss here this code is like chasing a ghost. Do you have any ideas I can try, I'm trying to find new ideas to see what's going on. I'm very stubbornp and I am not giving up if you think the freeze frame data would help you please let me know thank you .
i have the same problem with my mercury mountaineer 4.6l at first i was getting a misfire n check engine light cam on i took it to the dealer they ran it on the computer n did a compression test they gave me a list of stuff---- both Camshaft pos sensors, all spark plugs, all coil packs, fuel filter, vct seli on both sides, and air filter.. replaced it all once i drive the car for about 3 miles it starts running rough n if i let off the gas it just about dies im getting codes p0345 and p0349 the camshaft position sensor on bank 2 so i switched the sides n still getting the same code so the sensor is fine just cant figure out what it is.....

So any progress on this? I have a 05 F150 5.4 with p0345 and P0349 codes. New alt, wiring checked out good, new driver side cam phaser, VCT's bout 6mos, spark plugs 6-7 mos, new cp sensor...
Truck idles and runs fine. Seems like I got spark knock maybe around 3-4k rpm. Maybe lagging on top end but hard to tell. Can't remember how it was before changing the cam phaser.
