I have a new 010 explorer sporttrac ordered and it is supposed to hit the dealer lot on sept the 13. List price is right at 42500. I guess time will tell. Ford will kill the sporttrac later this year they tell me. We will get a new explorer for 011 but no more sporttrac.
I bought my '98 Limited 5.0 AWD/air susp. in Nov.'97. 175k daily driver since the beginning. New bearings all around (one time),new shocks (one time),new u-joints (recent). Only needed to buy tires once due to two Firestone do-overs. I did breakes and rotors a couple of times. Only replaced the muffler once. Doesn't burn oil between changes. Best car ever ! I would like to drive it another five years and I think I will. LOL
Bought a 2000 XLT in Feb of 2000. Now has 180k on it, and only been to the shop once....for a sensor. Wife and I "hotbunk" it, I drive it to work on midnight shift, when I get home she drives it. Keeps the miles off of the Excursion and the F150........
I bought my 1993 Explorer XLT 4x4, 3.73 diffs, limited slip, towing package, and 941a preferred package ( AC, stripe kit and "premium" cassette deck stero), manual trans with Cali emmisiosn (+$100 to get sequential fuel injection)....in Feb 1993 for $21,000 and change out the door.
It now has about 218,000 on it. Original motor but nearly everything else replaced or rebuilt. The interior looks surprising well too. Just some scratches in the head liner from loading 10' long 2x4's and such and a couple kids added inthere for good measure.
