Let's make a deal

Made a call to a former neighbor I had a kid and inquired about a few vehicles that he used to have. A 48 F-6, 53 F250 and a 48 Ford 8-N. The old tractor was my dad's and he says he would like to sell me that one just because it was my dad'sand would like it to stay with the family. What are these gems worth? The F-6's engine is no good but the rest is supose to be okay. The 53 cab mounts are poor but the rest is all there. The 8-N has a Farmhand loader on it and comes with the haying tines as well. I used to run that a little. What a hoot.

The neighbor has a 33 Chevrolet four door sedan that he wants me to be involved in restoring. I know how much the project could cost I just don't know what the gems my son and I are interested in are worth.

The 8N's worth about $2500, the F250 could be between $800 and $1800. I won't even guess about the F-6.

Gear Up,
Sounds like a lot of projects! For a little more information on the 8N, take a look at the Yesterday's Tractors homepage.Yesterday's Tractors
They have a lot of good information on these tractors and a classified section that might tell you how much they go for in your area.

Paul has given you some good numbers. I would weigh in rust and missing parts that you would have to replace, also.

Good Luck and let us know how many trips you have to make to get all your treasures home!

The F250 and F6 will typically be worth considerably less than a half ton truck in identical condition. Before I get in big trouble here, my definition of worth is "fair market value". An F250 is just as useful as an F100 and probably more in the opinion of some. They are worthy of the same personal pride and satisfaction of restoring any old classic. They usually just don't bring the same price on the sale block as a smaller truck will. It is hard to get all your restoration investment back at resale time for any truck and is increasingly difficult for a larger truck. That may not be important to you at all. Exceptions certainly exist and I bet I hear about some shortly.

At least you can use a F250 as a truck.

Real men drive real trucks
That should get Dewayne wound up.

Out this way running 8N's are around $1000. Real nice resto with accessories bring $2500. Seems to be an endless supply so prices havent risen much.

Thanks for the info. At least with that I can pick some of the battles more wisely. The F-6 I am thinking of turning into a tilting bed car hauler and the 8-N obviously is something of my past. I can display it at Rolag for Steam Threshing Days along with everyone else that has one of these. The only thing is there are very few with this type of loader mounted on them. Thanks again.
