Lowering a 4x4 99' Expedition

I resently purchased a 1999 Expedition XLT 4x4. I am very happy with the vehicle. It has 16" wheels and when you combine that with the 4x4 it sits higher than I would like.

I read an old posting about switching the rear springs with the 2x4 spring and then adjusting the torsion bar in the front. Is this a difficult project and are there any long term negative effects that could come from this? How many inches would this achive?

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

works great. have been driving mine for a year now. two things... you must use the 2wd heavy duty springs and change the rear shocks to 2wd. i blew out one of the 4wd shocks after lowering it. be sure to have it realigned right away. off ramps become very fun and the ride is much better.
