I have a 2000 CC 4X4 dually and was doing about 65 with a camper and boat in tow then the engine just died and the dash light came on for a second then continued running. All the gauges were fine. Got home driving the truck for anohter 2 hours without the same issue. What can this be?
Sounds like what my truck did when the CPS went out. It would be running fine, then die. When it first started, it seemed like the truck would just sputter. As it got worse, it would die completely and start up shortly thereafter. Later, it would die and not start until the truck completely cooled off.
Have you replaced the CPS and if you did, did you get either the black or dark blue one? The gray ones are only good for leaving in your glove compartment to discourage your real one from acting up.

Thanks for the quick reply. CPS has not been changed on this truck. When it happened, I was driving in 100 degree heat so I kept my eye on the gauges. No signs of overheating or anything like that. Is the replacment on this covered by extended warranty?
I would have no idea as to whether it would be covered by extended warranty, but it is an easy fix. Even the best CPS is only about $45. It takes about 20 minutes (max) and a 10mm socket and ratchet to replace. If you will read https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...code-info.html it will tell you probably more information than you want to know.
