Bed to frame contour

I have heard about people swapping better beds from 1/2 FORD trucks onto highboy truck frames so I decided to do this with mine. I am doing this with my 76 F.250 4x4 (highboy) truck frame with a 78 Explorer bed. I have got a 3 inch body lift with the truck. So we figured that we would use 3 inch square tubing, cut it and drill the new holes in it to mount the bed to the frame and it would work with the body lift. So after doing this for the front and rear mounts we noticed the 3 different length bed bolts and wondered about the bed,s mounts contour to the frame and we measured it and either we are morons or the bed,s contour is different. So I began to wonder aren,t all 73-79 Ford truck beds floors the same short of bolt hole locations? Also for anybody else out there who has done this conversion what did you do because of this? Thanks in advance

I am building a 79 F250 4x4 frame. I plan to swap a 73 F100 complete body on to it. My understanding is the bed holes are a little different, but it will be a while before I can get to that part.

Good luck.
