My friend will sell me 2 jl audio w6 10's plus the box for $150. Should I get them or get one fosgate he2 or hx2 12? Which will sound better and louder? I will get a pretty powerful fosgate mono amp to push them.
Alpine, how do you have your jl's wired? it is my understanding that they are 6ohm? What amp are you pushing it with? Also if you dont mind me asking what did you pay for them? is 150 a good price? it seems really cheap to me.
go with what u can fit. 2 10"s will get louder than one 12". but one 12" ported will get just as loud as 2 10"s sealed if not a little more (depending on the woofer, power, tuning, etc). anyway, i think they are 6ohm and i know the JL amps are made to run the power they claim from 1-8ohms. try the JL audio website and look under tutoirlas for the wiring guide

The 10w6s are dual 6ohms. I have a JL Audio 500/1 pushing both of them. I payed a little over $400 for the box and both speakers so $150 is a great deal. hope this helps.

hmm. im going to have to disagree with you on this one.
if he would be running the same amp to both setups, the jl 10's will still be louder sealed than the rf 12 ported. the two 10's have much more surface area than 1 12. with these subs, the two 10's will be way louder sealed than 1 12 ported, especially in a truck.
wow I might have to get that jl audo 500/1 it has some awesome reviews and i found one on ebay that is $150. they say its 6months old and it still works. i hope i dont get scammed.
i agree, but im sayin in general, not with just the woofers he mentioned. JLs get loud so do RFs but i wasnt satisfied with the ones i had. i heard 3 10w3v2 and they were insane but 2 kicker comp VRs (2003) were just a tad louder. i dont know if it was off the same amp or not. mind u this was in an audio shop and not an actual vehicle.
cant wait to get my new system in, ive decided to port it under the seat forward firing with the kicker grills, this will look bad *** and be pretty damn loud. ill take pics when its installed.

thats just with the given subs in the post.
The variable of box design has not been defined, so you cannot make that assumption. The HX2 subs can get very loud in the right enclosure. My teammate hit ~ 152 dB with 2 of those subs and is now the MECA IL state recordholder for his class--all with a daily driver box. We're talking a no-wall box in a 92 Blazer that was tuned around 35hz. Box design/positioning makes a HUGE difference.
Assuming that xxxcre10xxx would use a sealed box in both applications, THEN I would definitely say that the JL subs would get louder.
