Anyone using a high torque starter. The stock starter just fits with my headers and exhaust and is really hard to remove so I want to make sure I don't have to once the body goes on. Any suggeastions?
What engine are you running? I have a gear-reduction starter on my flatty V8 and it is as much better than the stock groaner as an alternator is compared to a generator. Zero problems since installed. It has to weigh 5 lbs less, too. You'll want to be 12v tho, and some re-wiring is needed (they hook up like a GM starter, solenoid is on the starter).
I have a 52 flathead converted to 12 volts as well. I have clearance issues around my headers so it should help. I see some on e-bay for sale, likely all pretty much the same. Also my stock starter seems to kick out all the time, should fix that problem as well.
