About 15 years ago I bought a new Ford conversion van. My younger brother bought it from me. He then sold it back to me. I sold it to my older brother. And my older brother just sold it back to me today.
Today, it has just a tad over 32,500 miles on it, 15 years old, and it looks and drives just like new. I call it "Cool Blue Van"!
As soon as I move some junk off the 2nd carport, it will move in next to the Excursion.
That's a nice shade of blue. I'm kinda torn because I know that van would work really well for traveling and such. Problem is, I wouldn't want to be seen driving my great grampa's van.
5% window tint would help.
Kidding because I know you have a good sense of humor.
We all have take-home cars from our employers. The only time anything I own gets driven is in the evening hours, say 6:30 p.m. to whatever. The van used too much gas for my younger brother to drive much, he has a 40 mile trip one way to work. He drove it on the weekends once in a while. And my older brother has a used car in his yard just like me. When we get ready to go somewhere it takes us a few minutes to decide which keys to grab.
The van will be 40 years old before it reaches 60,000 miles now.
I have no interior pictures, but when it cools off here I sure will take some. After two 24" snow storms, we have now been running 95+- degree days for the last 45 days. I have never seen a summer so hot and consistent in my entire life. Haven't turned the air conditioning off at home for just as long. It's brutal, day in and day out. And it's just too hot to do hardly anything outside. (Remember, I have ridden around in air conditioned cars all my life!)
It's a 5.0 V-8, automatic with Overdrive. The engine and transmission still aren't broken in good with 32,000 miles on it. It drives and handles just like new. A friend just did a charge (one can R134) on the air conditioning about an hour ago. Engine oil and transmission fluid just changed. It's ready to rock and roll now.......... whenever I take it out for a drive.
Supposedly, and I am researching it now, the Ford Mustang GT sales were slow in 1994. So they took the excess 5.0 GT engines and put them in some of the conversion vans. If you stand outside of the van at the passenger side rear doors, it sounds like a GT engine with single exhaust. I really want to find out if this rumor is true or not.

Ford used the 5.0 in Lincoln Town-Cars, T-birds, F150's and Mustangs. Possibly others too, but I know for sure they put that old pushrod Windsor in those 4 vehicles.
1995 (you said 15 years ago, so I assume it's a '95, yes?), was the last year Ford put the 5.0 engine in the Mustang. The body style changed to the SN95 platform from the Fox chassis (oft times called the Fox Body) in '93, but the 5.0 was still used through the '95 year. In '96 they started using the modular 4.6L engine as the V8 powerplant.
Can you determine the firing order for your engine? I'm not sure if the firing order for the T-bird and Lincoln would be the same, but I know the Mustang 5.0 and the F150 5.0 had the same firing order as the 351 engines used in the F150's.
Hopefully you don't have the truck 5.0 because the cams are different than the Mustang 5.0's.

I was talkin to a guy on the Mercury Maruders forums who asked for the firing order (1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8), and after my answering him,
he then said it was the better of the 5.0 engines. Several web sites identify the firing order as the 5.0 L High Output engine.
So, who got the raw deal in all the sales? Hope you bought it back a lot cheaper then you sold it?
6 years ago, Sept 3, 2004 according to the Virginia registration card, I sold it to my older brother for $4,500.
This was a pretty darn low price at the time. I paid him $3,000 for it the other day when I bought it back.

That's correct. You have the 5.0 HO engine.
The non-HO 5.0 firing order is: 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. The 5.0 in the F150 trucks is the same.
The 351 Windsors have the same firing order as the 5.0 HO engine.
Put a set of headers on that puppy and you'll easily open up 20+ hp and and handful of torque. More than enough for you to feel it push you back harder into the seat.
A bigger throttle body, a GT40 intake, a set of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads and a nice set of F cams and you'll really wring out more performance from that puppy!
