over a year ago, my a/c system started leaking. I have been adding a can as needed, but it is time to take care of it.
I went ahead and had my buddy order the complete system so I can replace everything. The condenser, accumulator, compressor and lines are all pretty straight forward.
My concerns are the evaporator coil. Has anyone ever replaced/removed it? Any information is greatly appreciated.
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Disconnect the condenser to evaporator line spring lock coupling.
Discard the O-ring seals.
Remove the suction accumulator/drier. For additional information, refer to Suction Accumulator in this section.
Remove the nuts and reposition the manifold absolute pressure sensor and bracket (7.3L diesel).
Remove the nuts and reposition the vapor management valve and bracket (5.4L and 6.8L).
Loosen the clamps and remove the intercooler tube (7.3L diesel).
Remove the screws and remove the evaporator core housing support bracket.
Remove the 11 screws, release the 3 retaining tabs and remove the evaporator core cover.
Remove the evaporator core.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Install new O-ring seals lubricated in clean PAG oil.
Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. For additional information, refer to Section 412-00 .
Evacuate, leak test and charge the A/C system. For additional information, refer to Section 412-00 .
Copy and Pasted from my Ford Manual on DVD. Fairly straightforward job.
hey, thanks Roland. That $20 manual i have was not as detailed. I like that they always say "reverse the removal procedure". It looked like it would come out from the engine side. Glad it does.
my dad is going to do the job for me as I do not have the time and he could use the extra cash.
Were there any diagrams? The old man likes pictures.
