They are stock wheels and unaffected by shocks. Did you read? Did you take physics in school?
He posted his tire /rim size after my comment ,, those are a tad small for a 6 inch lift ,,IMHO and would have anticipated a larger combo
However my shock recommendation still stands no matter how many little insults you throw my way
plus rancho will have an application for a 6 inch lifted excursion
a non performance brand at the "auto parts store" likely will not
Some folks can't wrap their head around the affects of a better shock and the instant difference in ride quality because they haven't tried it

I have experienced it. All they can do is make a shock stiffer which is why people think they are getting something but all they are getting is a harsher ride which is fine if you like that. A shock is a shock and all that mystical magical hype means nothing.
Sorry, he did post the wheel/tire size after your comment................
I think you really don't understand how much more a shock can do and be improved upon over a stock unit? things like valving and different rebound compression rates and a slew of other enhancements
but that is your opinion and I have voiced mine
Valving? they all have valves. Rebound rate? Yes I have seen them all the way up to 90-10 but juggling it around from the standard rate recommended for the Excursion is not going to do anything. I think you fell into the stiffer shock made a difference category.
All cameras take pictures ,, there for they are all the same (Please buy the cheapest one possible )
does that sound correct ?
because your statement that all shocks are the same is ridiculous
OEM does not put the best of the best in anything
the Upgrade shocks have better hardware , better plating or powder coating vs paint and a better warranty , and in the case of the RSX 9000 better bushings // so does this shock vs shock still ring true?
Zmann you are repeating the discussion of last week with Exv10. I used the same arguement about OEM vs Aftermarket and quality and the camera comparison too . Losing battle.. He should obviously be the chief shock expert because he's seen it all and done it all apperently.
lol! I missed it ,, but I had a feeling that it was a ongoing stock rules battle ??.. the camera thing ,, well I thought would ring a bell however I did not realize it was a replay ,, sorry
PS opinions are opinions I have no problem With Brent
forum head butting is common but thanks for the info
Well I talked to the guys that I go wheeling with a lot and that help me work on the explorer (they own a 4x4 fab shop) and they were recommending one of the procomps because of the price. One of them runs them on his SD and he really likes them. The ones for my lifted rig are only about $40 each.
those are definitely low cost $ and these days $ matters they will likely be just painted , may not have a boot included and probably rubber bushings .. the ones I recommend or other upgrade ones will run 75$ plus
I just pulled a set of fabtechs off of mine thinking they were bad but after cycling them a little I think they just had a little dead zone ? they would freeplay for a little distance ,, then dampen

You are comparing apples with oranges on your top line. What I am saying is that the expensive shocks are not much better and not worth putting on. Like I said before; I never had any shocks that wore out before I got a new vehicle and they all rode fine. What can they so to a shock to help it? Not much except they hype it up so you will think so. They don't last much longer and that is why they make rebuildable ones. All your text in red means nothing, it's just a dam shock.

Actually I have seen quite a bit and done quite a bit. At 67 with an automotive history it's kind of hard not to. And fuelman; just because someone is outnumbered doesn't mean they are wrong. While these shock companies can add all kinds of stuff doesn't mean they will last longer or work better. I see it all the time with other products, they have to add stuff in order to charge more, it's kind of like the fishing reels with 12 ball bearings, the watches of yesteryear with 17 jewels, and the carbon fiber tripods. (a lot more money but not much less weight). Shocks are one of the most hyped up auto parts I have ever seen. When I used to buy racing parts I had to depend on my experience and gut feeling because it was so confusing to wade through all the hype. It's all about the money with the makers of products.
