The original engine in your truck was either a six or a Y-block V8, 292 cid. The 312 Y-block can also be used.
However, you will find a good Y-block engine a little difficult to get, then parts are going to be a little difficult and expensive. If all you want is to return your truck to Ford power, I'd probably recommend the 302/aod combo which is pretty popular.
You may want to check and see what suspension you have as if someone was nuts enough to put a Mopar engine in there they may have installed a Mopar front suspension clip as well!

Holy cow... cant believe someone would tear up such a truck.
First off shoot the guy. Second... If you just want a ford motor the 302 is good. But if you want something a bit more "peppy" Id go with a 351 windsor or something of that nature...
