I went to buy a distributor and a coil from a 75 ford truck w/ a 390
They wanted to know if I wanted single or dual vacuume advance
Whats the difference?
Also,
if anybody else wants to upgrade to electronic ignition
Its very cheap.
I got a Duraspark box free from a junkyard (brand new might I add)
and the coil was 13 bucks, and the dist was 45 with a 30 core.
You can use any dist as a core tho. I used a junk 352 that had no guts. lol So for 58 bucks and some wire I got electronic ignition
Hey Andy:
What was the box you grabbed at the yard off of? I am contemplating the same activity this week end. It seems there are a couple of versions of the Duraspark box. One has a blue stripe on it and the others are grey (if I remember correctly).

What's the difference in them?
I heard the blue is better, but still haven't learned the difference.
Also, is Wells decent stuff? I got 2 or 3 of those boxes recently and was wonderin if its worth it. (I have to use it right now, MSD box is at friends )
I just went to the yard yesterday and picked up a dist. module for my project. Haven't been able to change it over yet. TOOOOOO damn cold outside. I got the blue module. The difference is there are red, yellow , white , green ,black ,and brown , blocks. The difference between the blocks is that one could have crank retard, dual module, or early solid state ignition EEC. The blue is the easiest to install. I had to go to the parts store and pick up ballast resistor. Hopefully it will warm up a little so I can change it over.
let me add 1 suggestion. when you get around to doing the conversion make sure you run a new 12V switched power source to the ign. DO NOT use the wire going to the coil from the ign. switch. it is not 12V and it will give you terrible results.
