Looking to add some extra gauges...
Looking to add some extra gauges... Wanting some opinions, besides the wife's (Get the pretty ones that change color
)
I just put a 393 stroker in my truck, and would like to watch it like a hawk. I'm going to be swapping over to MAF, and doing all of the gauges at the same time. I have the 3 pod A pillar plastic without gauges yet, wondering if anyone makes a steering column gauge pod for my 93. Or if anyone knows if the steering column gauge pod for the '97-'01 might work. Auto Meter 15004 - Auto Meter Steering Column Gauge Pods - Overview - SummitRacing.com I was also looking at putting a couple of them on the dash.
I believe I'm going to put water temp, oil press, trans temp in the pod. I just need some where to put the wideband o2 gauge. If I can find a good place for a oil temp gauge, that'll go in too. The bottom of my dash is already full; trailer brake, and trans programmer. Has anyone put a pod on the top of the dash? Or maybe even overhead? I know its not a Superduty, but maybe...
On to the real questions-
What kind of gauges do you recommend/have? Do you have pics, different than already posted in different threads.
I've always liked VDO; have them in my boat, and they work fantasticly! I like the way they look, made in Germany, and have reviews as accurate. But besides all of that; I'm going to be scraping the green off my cluster, and swapping to red leds. So the red lighting is next to a must have.
What should my trans temp be (gauge and actual)? I've seen a couple different gauges for trans temp. The temp readings vary up to 100 degrees. I know that my '08 Chevy 2500- EASY it's a work truck, company spec- runs no higher than 215/225 pulling trailer, uphill, at full mashed, in 110 degree weather. I do have an upgraded aftermarket cooler.
Sorry for the long winded thread; and thanks, any input would be awesome.
I'm off to work, here in San Tan Valley AZ we like to work at night when its cool. Well, below 110 anyway.
