I have a 65 f100 3 speed on the column and straight 6. It has a 9 inch rear end and was wondering what the gear ratio would be on it. It wants to be under my f1, but I was wondering what the ratio was, and I cannot find a tag on it.
Without the tag, it'll be impossible to tell for certain without counting driveshaft vs. wheel rotations or pulling the carrier and counting ring and pinion teeth. Ford used a lot of different ratios back then. But you already knew that. With that said, I've got a 9-inch out of a '64 here and it has a 3.25. I bought it out from under a trailer built from the back half of the truck, so I don't know what powertrain it had. I've got another one out of a '70 with a 390/C6 and it has a 3.00.
Ill bet that pickup with the 3.25 was an automatic. I drove that 65 2 years ago and it did not seem really fast or slow so my guess is around 3.73s or so. I guess ill do some scraping. Also are the ford 9s any longer from the yoke to the end of the pumpkin? I want the driveshaft to WORK as you well know..
I went and looked at the door of that 65 and it came with 2 drivers doors, one on the truck and one in the back. I looked on the tags and for trans one said "F" and one said "A" and for the rear axle one said 09 and one said 08. can someone tell me what these marks mean? also what is the body code for a 65 short bed f100 twin I beam??
