I recently bought an '86 F-150 4X4. The truck is perfect except the stock tires and rims. I go off road as much as I can and find that I am sacrificing a lot of traction with the small tires and rims. My question is how big can I go with out any other modifications.
Is this just a trial and error thing?

Check out my 4wd in the gallery with 32's. 33's are pushing it and you'd have no room for suspension travel. Mine do not have a whole lot of room, so I would suggest a 2" leveling coil kit. Get the skyjacker coils for about 130-140ish from NTWonline.com. They are a snap to install, and have it aligned afterwards. That'll give you pleanty of room for the 32s to move. 32's will mount on as skinny as a 7.5" wheel. My eddie bauer wheels are 7.5 so i have the stock type wheels on my 32/11.5/15's.
