Dumb Trucker Stories
Feel free to add your own of course.
I couldn't resist using the Smileys to describe the looks on both of our faces. Sorry.
Today a guy rolled up getting a 6x12 enclosed trailer with his 09 SFE XLT F150. The catch he was rolling on at least 35"+ size tires, so I hook him up and talk about his truck its got the 4.6 3v and according to the sticker a open 3.15 rear end. Here is the conversation that happened next.
Me: What did you re-gear your rear end to?

Customer: Re-gear? You mean the transmission?

Me: No sir your rear differential. *points out the diff*

Customer: Oh no nothing like that just big tires and a tuner to fix my speedometer.

Me: How much weight are going to be pulling again?

Customer: About 2200 lbs of bricks for my patio. Why? Is it too much for the trailer?

Me: The trailer is fine but I would watch your transmission if you go into a hilly area due to your tall gearing and big tires.

He then leaves to do the paperwork and go on his merry way.

I will not be surprised if I get a call tomorrow morning to go pickup the trailer from a mechanic's shop. It makes me grateful that I asked questions before doing something stupid like this.
So what other stories do you guys have?
