factory brake controller

Are the factory brake controllers for a 2009 and a 2010 the same. I have a chance to but on locally for $200. I was told that 09 and 10 controllers are not interchangeable the. the add says 2009/2010 F150 factory brake controller

If I'm not mistaken, the 2009 model had a built in display, where as the 2010 model has removed the built in display and the information is now shown in the odometer area.

how can you add the brake controler if your truck did not come with one?

my widow sticker says trailer sway control under functional and 3.55ls axle 7200#gvwr package under the optional equipment. how set is this truck for towing around 8k? is there anything i should add?

just installed and had it turned on

I bought a used factory brake controller on ebay for $150. I called a Ford service dept. to have it turned on. They weren't sure how to do it ,so I printed off the instructions that were on this forum for them. they used the instructions and still charged me 1 hour labor.I'll never go there again. They said the min. they charge is a hour labor.But thanks for the instructions on how to do it so they know in the future. BTW it it worth the money for the controller and the activation. I used it to tow my 9600lb. fifthwheel. It works allot better that any aftermarket one.

Download Ford's Towing Guide for your truck here: ProFleetSales.com - Ford Official Towing Guides

Between this & the sticker(s) in your driver's side door, you should be able to accurately determine what your truck is rated to tow.

Do you have the tow package or any other package that includes a transmission cooler? If not, that would be a point of some concern.
