well my truck is finally getting better gas milage. this makes me belive my tranny was messedup since it was rebuilt last year, it got 9mpg, then upto 13 then down to 11 and finally it went out, now i'm going to try and get 16mpg out of it, i think with a K&N, headers, and a pulley i can do it(driving with a light foot also).
Since I`ve been hanging around this site I`m always paying attention to these gas mileage postings and find them quite interesting . I have a 80 F250 4x4 with a thirsty 400M . I`m averaging 13.8 MPG . I figured a more modern smaller displacement engine like yours would do much better than mine .
yeah i thought that it'd get better milage too i have a friend with a 77(ish) f-150 that has a 351 w/2bbl carb his gets 15.0 but mine happens to be a lil faster and i have also out pulled him. he takes VERY good care of his truck so i know it is not out of tune and is running like it should, also i have 31x10.5 tires which hurt the gasmilage the 302 dosen't really have the toqure to turn them if i droped down to the stock size i'm sure i could toast the tires easyer and get better MPG, but i'll never have a truck with anythin less than 31's.
Lousy fuel economy is the reason I decided to get rid of my F150. Together with my wife's Expy, we were spending $200+ per month in gas and we didn't go anywhere! I couldn't justify making a monthly payment on a vehicle that I didn't use. Got a Focus ZTS Mach audio instead. Got 28.5 mpg on the "free" tank of gas from the dealer. Now, I just have to find a small utility trailer to haul stuff in.
Lol why not a Ranger at least? Im only gettin 10 MPG and go through nearly 80 bucks a week in gas, therefore i can't afford to put any money away, but I'm stubborn and love my truck and therefore still own it lol.

>You sold your trucks and bought a focus? Wussy. What are
>you still doing here.
I just happen to own an Expy, so I'm not a complete wussy. I admit, it was damn hard to give her up, but I couldn't justify paying monthly for a vehicle that I wasn't using for more than driving back and forth to work. I looked at compact trucks, but the insurance was aweful, not to mention they cost as much as a full size. The reasoning I have is I will buy a utility trailer to haul stuff in and pull it with the Expy. At least I still have a truck (for now). And for those that haven't driven or seen a Focus, they are NICE cars for the money. Even though they are Basic Transportation, they quality of mine is superior to the truck I just got rid of. And the 460 Watt sound system allows me to forget it's a compact car.
it may be a nice car for the money but its still a wussy car, no offence, but i wouldnt be caught dead in one of those. on a recent trip from san deigo to phoenix i got a cool average of 11.7 mpg outta my 460. last weekend on the motorcycle i got just under 40 mpg. if you want good gas mileage get a bike. cheaper than a new car/truck and more fun. then when the weather gets bad or you need it you still have the truck. heck you can even put one inside the other.
