but how much are you going to spend on a chip plus you probably are going to put headers on it even if it is a newer truck to get more power. Honestly you can do the same thing with these old engines with junkyard parts. GT40 Heads off an explorer, LT Headers, Six Litre Tune Up, etc. etc. You can get good power gains off some rather inexpensive upgrades if you keep your eyes open at the junkyard
I just purchased a 1995 F150 XLT regular cab LB 5.8 W/E40d. Complete and in good running condition, except for a leaking water pump. Body wise its in good condition, too bad i'm going to part it out. It is perfect for the swap. Now my question is which trans 4R70W or the E40D thats is already bolted to the Windsor and for rears I have two also to choose from 3.31 or 3.08
I would take the E4OD, it will save you trouble down the road, the rear diff and the front diff have to match, so go with whatever you have in the front. If you can get both, take the 3.31 (anyway anything higher will be even better 3.73, 4.10 or 4.56), if you don't plan on using tyres bigger than 31", you should look for 3.73 gearing (unless you live somewhere really flat, then 3.31 will be ok).
There is a section on the forum were you can offer for sale whatever else is left from the truck.

It is 2wd (for now) and I live @7000 feet in the mountains, I agree with you I may keep the 3.31 in the (good) truck.
Engine swap time. Pulled the 302 out had 2 broken rods. I'm almost ready to pull the 351 out so I'm getting ready to order some parts. I'm going to replace the oil pump/drive pan gadgets seals and maybe bearing I'll have to see how they look, motor only has 140,000 miles on it. I've been drive it for 6 months now it runs great, but I don't want to have to pull the motor back out in the next few years. My question is should I replace the lower radiator hose/oil cooler line or put a bypass kit on it?
Also is there anything else I should address while the engines out?
