I've got duct tape in the same place on my 79 box as yours, LOL.

My truck DOES have the in-dash vents, I just didn't see anywhere that evaporator lines could come from. I still don't really, and I think Ranger429 could be right. Under the duct tape, there aren't any holes, just a solid plastic piece. But that piece does have outlines of circles, where it looks as though lines would be placed.

I'll have to look more into this though. I think I already have a donor vehicle though!

I also have a factory AC truck (73) thats missing parts that Im going to get going again. My question is on the control head. It doesnt have an "AC" position. It has OFF-VENT-PANEL-FLOOR-DEFROST. Which position is going to be AC?

It should be pretty easy to get squared away! X2 on MikeoOoOoO said, Nostalgic Air is a good place to get your replacement goodies. I'm planning on the full set up from them shortly, my dent didn't come with air, a must here in OK, no matter how tough we are! Where are you in Oklahoma? I'm north of Edmond, and I know of a couple salvage yards up in Guthrie that might have what you need as well.

I'm up in Newkirk, north of Ponca City. Good to see another Okie on the board! I have a friend with a possible donor vehicle, I'll have to see what he has for me, but thanks for the info!

A/C position is with the lower lever positioned under "panel" or under the little arrow between "panel" and "floor".
From "floor" and further to the right is heat, heat & defrost, then defrost only.

The "air conditioning" control panel was used in '73 & '74 but it's settings were a little confusing when it came to the a/c settings, even the owners manual was a little confusing.
In '75 the control panel was changed to one that was easier to understand. The actual control was the same only the wording was different.
This is '75 with the positions a little easier to understand.

That is not duct tape, it is a heat resistant tape from Ford.

After 30 some years who knows what has been done to the truck. I can tell by looking at your box there is no evap in it, no fittings coming out of it. If you look to the area where the tape is at you can see a rectangular hole there. This is where the 2 line fittings come out. You can see in my picture below where they come from.

So, if I have this ginormous monstrosity under my hood but no fittings coming out of said monstrosity, I just have some weird heater set up? I was hoping it was AC and I could get the pump etc and put back on it, hate to have that thing in there and it only be for heat.

This is a closeup of the evaporator lines where they come out of the evaporator housing. This is a '76 up unit and the expansion valve is a little different from the '73-late '75 units.

I'll have to look when I'm there this weekend. I know at least the cab is a 76 (don't know about the rest of the truck lol)

I should have a picture to finally post on here too, as a base point before it gets ripped a part. Probably have a build thread on it sometime this winter, trying to let it cool down a bit. Not fun trying to sand/grind etc in 100+ degree weather!
