66 ranchero Vin decode
#16
The hidden VIN's of vehicles of this vintage were also listed in the Kelley Blue Books that (back then) were only available to dealers, insurance companies, banks and finance companies.
Today, you can buy Kelley Blue Books in book stores, but whether these 'for the general public' versions have the hidden VIN info...or not, I dunno...but I would guess not.

Thanks guys, I am about to start pulling fenders. My insurance company, and City Police have been no help. Awaiting a call from Washington State Patrol vehicle inspection station. County government no longer answers the phone. They want all communication via e-mail or regular mail. That really makes you wonder doesn't it.
I will continue my efforts and keep you posted. Ken

VIN
Much to my chagrin and embarrasment the hidden VIN has been located. The location is just like ncranchero's photo above except it is on the left side. The public VIN on my 66 is 6K29C and is the same as the hidden VIN. Now I have to reconcile the code "C" for 289 when in fact the vehicle had a 200-6. There are several clues remaining and still visible that tend to confirm that it was an original 200. However these kinds of errors are common and I may never reconcile the apparent error.
Someone ought to build a web site to aquire hidden VIN locations and build a library with info provided by users. We DIY'ers would be a good resource.
Thanks, Ken

Vin decode on 1967 Ranchero 500?
Hoping for some help. Vin decode 7k38C166189. Some info on door plate is too worn to see, but 66F, 4P, and 86 are still visible. My husband has finally bought this truck from an old friend, it runs great!
I am new to forums, but hoping to learn from those of you who are so knowledgable.
Thank you,
