Bullbar and new window

Hi,Have priced a bullbar from Road Armor for the F250 .What's the word, is it a good buy and how is it to install? Also kids in the neigbourhood was hunting birds with slingshots the other day - of course one stray stone hit my windscreen and caused a crack just under the wiper. Did a temporary repair to stabilize the crack. New screen is ordered - and I will attend when they change the screen. The mecahnics here are pretty rough and ready - "small problem small hammer - big problem big hammer" - type of guys. So I was thinking maybe I should avoid problems by prepping the car before taking it to the shop. Maybe remove trim and the rear view mirror. Any difficulties with doing that? Anywhere I can find a work shop manual on the web?

I would be nervous about taking my truck to a place like that! I wouldn't know what you would need to do to prep the truck, but when I had the windshield replaced on my Jeep they actually came to my house to do it. Also check with your insurance company, I know in FL windshield replacement is free (no deductible). The insurance company also arranged everything for me.

Are we talking about your pickup or your car here? At any rate, I'd find a reputable shop and have them do the work from start to finish. Since I don't know your location, Dick Edwards Ford in the Little Apple is one such place.

If they don't wear gloves when handling the windshield to keep the oil on their fingers from preventing the glue from holding - you could have problems with it. Better to have windshield pros install it.

Reputable shops hmmm....most expats living in Laos are continuously looking for one....there is a business opportunity I would say.
I already use the local Ford dealer but they won't do the job themselves but will hand it to some local side walk shop. Glass insurance is too expensive and it still will not ensure a good installation job. Probably will end up taking the windscreen to Thailand for installation.

Go ahead and take it to Thailand. I'll keep mine here in the US. Little Apple is only 65 miles from the farm. They do all their work in house and from my experience do it reputably.

If you actually are in Laos, I guess you should have posted that so we knew where you were. Things may be drastically different over there than where I and I dare say the majority of FTE users are.

It looks like my location shows up now. Must have missed something when entering my details.

What about Road Armor bull bars? Is it a good buy and how do they install - bolt on or do you need to modify anything?

I don't know anything about bull bars. Maybe somebody else on here does.

If you're in Laos I can't help but if you are in the US I can report that I had a great experience with safelite last week. Called 1-800#, tech showed up on time and did a great job. Price was $315 for windshield with LOGO. My conservative nature requires me to report that in Georgia we don't have any of those FREE windshields, but we probably pay for the ones in Florida.

In Texas there is a $100 deductable on windshield replacement.
so the owner pays the first $100.

Florida no-fault! Got to love it.

As for the bull bar, I would imagine that is bolt on. Remove stock, replace with Road Armor.

Edit: And technically FREE would be a bad use of words. I do pay insurance, there is just no deductible on windshield replacement in FL.

My 08 F350 has a 'ranch hand' bumper, which I suspect is very much like your bullbar..
