...you're on a highway and then start going up an incline at 50-60 mph to keep it at that speed you have to hit passing gear.
Quite annoying.
I love everything about my EB expo except that and the lack of acceleration with the 5.4.
That 345hp Escalade must be great on power.
You share the same feelings as me. That's the only bad thing I have to say about my wonderful SUV. The acceleration isn't the best in the world. We live near the country, so hills are actually in abundance down around the lake, and the acceleration up hills do get annoying. The loud sounds coming from the engine revving up, while going up hill do kinda make me antsy.

I beleive that your tranny is actually falling out of over drive. I see the same thing. I have gotten to when I know I am climbing the hill home, I switch off the over drive. The incline is just enough to keep it shifting in and out of OD. Gets annoying. In drive there is no down shifting, and all my aggravation is gone!

I've found that my Expedition is more prone to downshifting when I have the cruise control on than when I have my foot on the accelerator. Turning the OD off around hilly terrain is an option as mentioned earlier as is rear gear replacement (to a lower ratio). If you change the rear gears, you should notice appreciable acceleration benefits as well.
Thats about my only complaint as well. These modular V-8's develop torque at a higher rev given the OHC design, amoung other things. I am hoping to improve the low end torque with a Grantelli MAS and perhaps one of those TBI spacers. It really doesnt need much more. It just needs the curve shifted a bit back in the rev range.
