04 explorer trouble
hey guys im outta my area here but need help from you guys my moms 04 ford explorer has round 88,000 miles on it and it recentley started to want to act up when goin down the road its hard to describe it has 4 new tires is not outta alingment however it still on original set of shocks and all here is the problem you will be driving along on the freeway and sometimes backroads when you hit bumps etc it will fight you it will swerver back and forth for 20ft then be fine again it is drivible but not somethin i want her to be fighting with i was wondering if it might would be a stabilizer bar since it has independent suspention front and rear another guess of mine was it just needs new shock absorbers thnks for the help in advance guys

do the tires show any new wear ? i would be checking the lower ball joints, and slop in the steering arm, and bushing attached to the center of the tie rod. lay under the radiator and have someone turn the wheel left and right and look for "slop".

Sounds like Good advice,,,Just for Haa-Haas,,,while your getting aquainted with the under side of the Explorer,,,,On my 04' when we had it on the lift,,,tranny fluid/filter, transfer case fluid change,,looking at the rear suspension,,being it is Independent,,,they have struts or locating rods for alignments,,,in the rear,,,and was noticing,,,if they got,,loose,,or bent,,rotted,,,,etc,,,could cause some handling issues,,because the wheel could move around some,,,Just what I recall when looking at it.,,,,Good Luck,,,Mark
