Got any ideas for dry camping food?
Look up recipies for things like Hummus, Tabooli, Babaghanoush. Etc. A pack of pita bread and you are ready. Just prepare everything ahead of time and refrigerate them. Good cold.
Ditto Japanese Somen(or Soba), cold noodles with sauce. Prepare ahead, and take a bottle of the ready to use Somen sauce. Chop up some ham/spam whatever, some Julienned veggies, etc for garnish.
We do a lot of the above on hot summer nights to keep down on hot foods. All store well in an ice chest and tupperware.
The Hummus is very easy. Puree a can of Garbanzo beans with some Tahini(sesamepaste), some garlic, olive oil and a little lemon juice and you are ready to go. Dip the pita bread chunks in it like a finger food.
The above are very filling, we usually surprise ourselves at how quickly we are stuffed. The Hummus, Tabooli and Babaghanoush can be found in many store deli sections ready made.
Good Luck,

Yeesh! I still have fond memories of cold C-Rat selections like spaghetti & meat *****.....Chunk tuna.....canned peaches and pears.....Beef stew.....crackers with the consistency of damp cardboard......pound cake that sits in your gut like a 3-lb bowling ball.....Ham & ******......and other fine examples of high-living cuisine!
I still vote for the MREs.....I agree with the tiny camp stove choice though for hot beverages.....

I may end up taking the stove, but I'd really like to just have some stuff in the cooler so we'll see.
