BulletProofing Tactics Article

I just got my September 2010 copy of FOUR WHEELER magazine. It has a good article about BulletProofing the 6.0. It has all the usual oil cooler and EGR failure information. It also mentions something I didnt know about, Head problems. It mentions the weak valve seats in the heads and that they are prone to cracking, even for low milage unmodified/stock engines. I have read about the ARP head stud fix but the weak valve seat problem is new to me.

there was an artical awhile back about its common for a 6.0L to break a crankshaft. at that time I had never seen one do it. To this day I have seen one of those.

Thanks for the input cheezit.

Here is a quote from the article about the coolant filter effectiveness:

'To solve the coolant restriction issue, many companies offer aftermarket coolant flitration devices... While these units do in fact remove contaminants from the cooling system, they do not address the corrosion issue common to aluminum heat exchangers and coolant."

Coolant filter dosent help?

Corrosion isn't a problem if you maintain the proper mixture of the proper coolant.

I think they are trying to sell the reader on Bulletproof Diesel's external mounted oil cooler. They say thats a better solution than the coolant filter. It is defenetly much more expensive.
