EGR delete
Was reading last night a research project by Cheezit with respect to the side effects of an EGR delete and now I can't seem to find it. Could someone point me in the right direction. I'm planning on an oil cooler replacement and and EGR delete while the truck is in the shop getting head gaskets done. Any help would very appreciated.
Thanx
1) Exhaust gasses pass thru the up pipe from the manifold and travel thru the EGR cooler.
2) The gasses then pass into the intake manifold where they are regulated by the EGR valve depending on engine load and boost conditions.
If I have this right and the EGR cooler were deleted, cooled exhaust gasses would not get a chance to enter the intake manifold.
Would that not increase EGT's because there is now more fuel and less inert substances in the combustion chamber ?
I apologize for all the dumb questions but before I go ahead with this EGR delete I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. The dealership checked the EGR cooler in January while on the truck and it passed. Would it make sense to just leave it on. I AM having the oil cooler replaced as the EDGE showed as 23 delta on the EOT and the ECT. I have installed a Dieselsite coolant filter but it looks as if the damage was done. BTW, this an '05 new to me in December of last year with 70k miles on the clock.
the egr is there to reduce Nox. a diesel will have no issue burning all the fuel you can normally throw in the hole.
so once the fuel/air mix is in the cyclinder assuming its burned correctly will result in the same volume of of inert gas with or with out egr.
I will say best of lucj getting a dealer to install a delete kit. they dont like to do that.
