this is long but i feel you guys need all the info you can get to help me. here it goes. hooked up to the trailer today to take the tractor to the fair. i noticed for a while now that on bumpy roads my truck will miss once then will be fine. well today while backing up the truck shut off like someone just turned off the key. she started up just fine. started driving and it had a tiny miss but not much. i got to the fair and the road is rough. it started to miss and go below 500 on the tach to the point of me havin to keep it idled up to get home. so on the way home i let it start coasting up to a stop sign and hit some bumps then the truck just shut itself off. started right back up again and limped home. more bumps more PIA. i do have the icp mod. if i have a bad connection in the icp could it cause the truck to do this and then to just shut off if the rpm's arent high enough on a bumpy road? what else could be causing this issue. i also noticed it wasnt as bad till we got hit with all the heat and humidity. i hope someone can help. thanks in advance guys
i pulled codes. i got p1280 that stated ICP range out is low or something. but got no other codes. something i forgot to mention is i ran the hell out of it goin home. i noticed a slight miss once or twice at high rpm but it is worse at low. i hope it aint somethin to big. but your thinking the UVCH?
thats whats throwin me off. i mean at first start in the drive it missed real quick but then smoothed out. and i have had the icp mod for 3 yrs now and no problem out of it yet so i wouldnt suspect it is that. would the UVCH throw a code if thats what it is or is it just a matter of pulling the covers and making sure everything is hooked up and not burnt?
i would look at the connection on the ICP mod. when i was playing around with it i had several differnt resistors on a selector **** in the cab so i could see which one i liked. if i woud go to high to fast, the engine would kill, but start irght back up.
but if it is comming loose... it would cause the engine to kill. these trucks will run with the ICP unplugged, but it will die if you unplug it while it is running.
ahhh. ok see i was wandering bout that earlier. so i guess ill start easy and check that but if all connections are nice and tight then i know it has to be something else
but on the other hand i have unplugged it before and it will idle like it has 1000 hp but i could still drive it. plug it back in and the rough idle will go away in bout 30 sec
well im gonna check the icp and then the ipr. but i have another suspicion. when we did my inj o rings in sept my VC was melted on the glow plug side. we ended up having to put a pig tail replacement on it. i wander if that connection is bad now
