hey thanks i checked out there site, does anyone make like 50 hp injectors or maybe 25 hp ? I dont know what our engines can handle so is there any aftermarket perfromance injectors out there ???
lol, there arent upgrade injectors like that bud. thats powerstroke crap bud. your ip controls the fuel that goes into your engine. bb injectors are the best for you. its stamped right on the injectors. if you really wanna get a great set you can get some moose injectors. they are about 900 bucks for all 8 though.
ya, but when you are running high power like dave s then they are great to have. but thats soooooooooo overkill for his application. unless he starts pushing 15 psi of boost.
wow, thank you for the info on that haha. That would be 3x more then i paid for the whole truck itself lol. I think ill just research these IP's and do all the mods ive read on here the only one i havnt quite understood is the soup bowl delete ? could you please inform me on that real quick ?
soup bowl delete is for non turbo engines only. the lid for the air cleaner has this dumb bowl that channels the air into the intake. you just cut that off.
get a pyrometer, then just turn up your ip a couple flats. (flat is 1 side of the allen wrench you use to turn the screw. there are 6 flats on it.) dont do it until you get the pyrometer though, you could melt your engine.

Let Oreo said, the idi injectors are poppit type. They hold back the fuel until it reaches a set pressure, somewhere around 2000PSI. Then they release and let the fuel flow until the pressure drops to a set level. The only thing they can affect is the spray pattern. With a prechamber design the spray will be pretty well mixed by the turbulence caused by all of the air being forced into the chamber through a relatively small opening.
It would be interesting to know what you're getting for $900.00 from moose.
I am running a set of DPS stage 1 injectors in my 86 6.9 turbo.
Also that engine has several mods, milled pistons and head studs so I can take advantage of the extra fuel and boost.
They do put out the fuel, but you can also expect a drop in MPG's with them as well as an increase in smoke levels.
I did talk with Ken at DPS several years ago when I was looking for a new engine.
But the time frame I had to get the new engine did not work with his schedule at that time.
I am also sad to report that lately more than one person has had problems with DPS parts for the IDI, both injectors and IP's.
Seeing what fuel prices have done since I built my engine, I would probably not build it the same way today.
Yes the power is nice, but I pay for it every time I pull up to the fuel pump.
So the original price of the engine mods was only a down payment on the total cost.
